Melba is a professional Actress/Model working in the commercial and print industry for the last 13 years.
She is a 36 year practitioner and senior teacher for the Bikram Hot Yoga method for her students at two differnt locations in the Long Beach area.
Recently, Melba has launched a start-up Yoga line of apparel called, “It’s a Wrap by Melba”, soon to be in a yoga studio near you.
Previously, was a co-founder and Vice President of Berkhemer Clayton Inc. (aka Diversity Search Partners Inc.,) a retained senior level executive search firm that was founded in 1993. Areas of expertise was in business development and executive recruitment. Berkhemer Clayton Inc., specializes in recruiting talented and diverse senior-level executives for corporations and institution throughout the United States. Partner from 1993-2005.
As a volunteer she was a speaker at the Governors Conference in California hosted by the former Governors Gray Davis and Pete Wilson. Served as both panelist and guest speaker for various other conferences that include Leadership America, CareerPath.com, Lee Hecht Harris Outplacement and Wright Management.
Ms Johnson has served on 6 non-profit boards in Los Angles, California including Santa Monica College Foundation, Big Sister of Los Angeles, Daniel Freeman Hospital Foundation, Women’s Enterprise Development Corporation (WEDC) Toberman House in San Pedro and Planned Parenthood, Los Angeles.
Her other activities included membership in Women of Los Angeles, Women in Business, Women Incorporated, Japan America Society, National Association of Minorities in Cable, Women in Cable Television and Cable Television Association of Marketing (CTAM). Her experience with the associations in the Cable Industry stems from her experience as a founding partner during 2000-2001 in a start-up Digital Cable Network (HoneyVision).
She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1986.
She is also a graduate from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing (FIDM) specializing in merchandizing and marketing.
She is married with 5 children, residing in San Pedro, California
Currently her work with Through My Mother's Eyes is a passion project of which she invites her audience to examine the unique circumstances that make us who we are, in hopes of encouraging selected sponsors to donate eye glasses to senior citizens who are economically challenged.
